Managing a large inventory of police weapons is a critical challenge for the Mexico City Police Department, which serves nearly 20 million residents in one of Mexico’s most high-crime areas. Loss and mismanagement of weapons pose significant security risks, prompting the department to seek a more reliable tracking solution.

By deploying Xerafy’s Pico and Dot XS on-metal RFID tags, the department can now track weapons in real time, ensuring greater security and accountability. Each weapon and police badge is tagged, enabling automatic check-in/check-out tracking at armories. This enhances inventory accuracy and prevents unauthorized access. Designed for harsh environments, Xerafy’s rugged RFID tags withstand rough handling, high temperatures, and magnetic interference.

With 154,000 tags deployed in Phase One, the RFID solution is already improving weapon oversight, with other municipalities planning to adopt the system.
